How wireless access control enhances the security of the education sector

Maintenance is another challenge. School staff are unlikely to have the expertise and contracting with a professional is expensive.

Later, Vejle Friskole’s mechanical keys were replaced by wireless access control systems. Approximately 80 doors and cabinets are secured with SMART air wireless locks. Approximately 250 students and teachers carry their own fobs programmed with individual permissions. Extended access control by integrating wireless locks

Only the latest flexible access systems make grades to protect the prestigious new site of HafenCity University (HCU) in Hamburg. The agency turned to SIEMENS electronic access control, fully integrated and extended with ASSA ABLOY Opening Solutions’ Aperio wireless lock.

Approximately 500 battery-powered Aperio electronic cylinders are connected and controlled by the university’s SIEMENS system. Aperio locks are wireless and incorporate RFID readers, so adding access control to far more doors than is feasible or affordable with traditional security is cost effective.

The new HCU building will accommodate approximately 2,400 students and 460 staff, and will include flexible space for media centers and libraries, seminar rooms, laboratories, offices and more. Students and staff open the door with a programmable RFID smart card. For added security, their validity period can be adjusted to suit different licenses and personalized card permissions.
