State education board asks for public report about Schools for the Deaf and Blind

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The West Virginia Board of Education has directed state Superintendent of Schools Clayton Burch to prepare a public report about a review of the West Virginia Schools for the Deaf and Blind.

Board members approved the action during its meeting Wednesday, in which Burch will be responsible for also appointing a team on modernizing facilities, restructuring personnel, refining employment practices, and improving residential life and instructional practices.

The board went into a closed session to discuss a review of the Schools for the Deaf and Blind. Members did not discuss any details after resuming their open session.
